Terms of Service

Last updated: 17 September 2026

Welcome to StoryMe. These terms are the agreement between you and StoryMe ("we", "us") when you use our personalised storybook and adventure service, available at story-me.world and in our app. By creating an account or using StoryMe, you accept these terms.

1. Accounts and who may use StoryMe

You must be 18 or older to create an account. Parents and guardians create accounts on behalf of children, and are responsible for the child's use of the service. Teachers may create classroom projects on behalf of their school, with the school's permission.

Keep your sign-in details private. Tell us straight away if you think someone else is using your account.

2. What StoryMe does

StoryMe uses artificial intelligence to create personalised storybooks, narration, read-along practice, and interactive adventures based on the name, age, and photo you provide. AI output can occasionally contain oddities or mistakes. You are responsible for reviewing content before sharing it with a child, and for the details you submit (for example, making sure the photo is of your own child).

3. Your content

You keep ownership of the photos you upload and the personal details you submit. You give us permission to process them — and to send them to our AI and storage providers — solely to create and deliver your books, narration, and adventures, as described in our Privacy Policy.

You may download, print, and share the books you create for personal, family, and classroom use. You may not resell them or use them commercially without our written permission.

Do not upload photos of children who are not yours without their parent's permission, and do not upload content that is unlawful, violent, sexual, hateful, or otherwise inappropriate. We may remove content and suspend accounts that break these rules.

4. Plans, credits, and payments

StoryMe is sold in South African rand through PayFast:

  • Free trial — your first book (8 pages) and first adventure are free.
  • Single Book — R99 — one full book plus one adventure.
  • Family Bundle — R249 — three books, three adventures, and multiplayer adventures.
  • Monthly Pass — R199/month — three books per month, unlimited adventures, and multiplayer while the pass is active. One month at a time; it does not auto-renew.
  • Classroom Project Pack — R59 per learner (minimum 15 learners), paid once per project by the school or organiser.

Book and adventure credits are added when your payment is confirmed, do not expire with your account, and are used in the order you create content. Pass benefits last for the paid month only. Prices may change, but you always pay the price shown at checkout.

5. Refunds

Because each book is generated individually and consumed on creation, started books and adventures cannot be refunded. Unused credits are refundable within 7 days of purchase — email us with your payment reference. If a generation fails on our side and cannot be completed, we will retry it or restore the credit. Nothing here limits any rights you have under South Africa's Consumer Protection Act.

6. Classroom Project Packs

The teacher or school that pays for a class project is responsible for obtaining parents' consent for each learner's photo and details, and for sharing the project's books with the right families. Teachers may not submit learner information without parent submission or permission.

7. Multiplayer and classroom adventures

Hosts control who joins an adventure through invite codes, and can remove players or reset a story. Hosts and teachers are responsible for the conduct of the people they invite. Be kind — StoryMe is for children.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to: misuse or attempt to disrupt the service; access accounts or data that are not yours; automate or scrape the service; resell access; or use StoryMe to create content that is harmful, deceptive, or infringes anyone's rights, including impersonating real people other than the child the account is for.

9. Availability and changes

We work hard to keep StoryMe available, but we may change, pause, or discontinue features. If we discontinue something significant that you've paid for, we will offer a refund or a reasonable alternative. We may update these terms; material changes will be announced in the app, and continued use after that means you accept the updated terms.

10. Disclaimers and liability

StoryMe is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we do not promise that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

11. Ending your account

You can stop using StoryMe and delete your account at any time — your library, uploaded photos, and recordings will then be deleted as described in our Privacy Policy. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or South African law.

12. Law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa. Questions, refund requests, or notices can be sent to support@story-me.world.
